Tabulampot Vine Pruning 6 Best Technique

Posted on

Air Like – The technique of pruning and fertilizing vines depends on the propagation model used. And there are many models of propagation applied by wine connoisseurs around the world.

On this occasion I would like to share knowledge about the Trellis Model or abroad which is commonly called the Trellis System.

Many sources say that the Trellis System is one of the best grape propagation models capable of producing highly productive fruit.

In fact it is true…

But actually not only this model is the best. There is another model that is no less great. But I have no intention of discussing it.

Okay… since our time is limited, let’s get started!

1. Grape Seed Enlargement Up To 2 Meters Height

Information:

Install temporary stakes as high as 2 meters for to help the vines grow perpendicular to the top. Allow the plant to grow until it reaches a height of 2 meters from the surface of the pot.

2. Pruning Stems

Information:

After reaching a height of 2 meters, prune and leave between 30 – 50 cm from the surface of the pot, so that the stems are successfully formed.

3. Main Branch Enlargement

Information:

Replace the new vine with the model / shape as shown in the picture and tie the stem to the vine, so that its position does not change.

Some time later new shoots will appear. Place the top 2 shoots of the 2 shoots in opposite directions (right and left shoots on the main stem).

Let them grow until they reach 1.5 meters each.

4. Pruning Main Branch

Information:

After reaching 1.5 meters, prune and leave between 4-6 buds each, so that the Main Branch is successfully formed.

Tie the main branch to the vine so that it does not change its position.

5. Secondary Branch Enlargement

Information:

After a while, new shoots will grow on each shoot.

Allow all shoots to grow vertically until they reach the top end of the vine.

If some shoots grow faster than others, immediately massage them with your fingers until the stems are even.

The goal is to inhibit its growth, so that all shoots can grow simultaneously and in balance.

6. Secondary Branch Pruning

Information:

After all the branches reach the top end of the vine, then prune and leave 50 cm each, so that the Secondary Branches are successfully formed.

Tie all branches to the vines so they don’t change position.

Information:

Some time later new shoots will appear at the top end of the secondary branch.

This shoot will grow into a Tertiary Branch.

Let the tertiary branches grow until they reach maximum growth as indicated by the absence of new leaf growth on the shoots of the tertiary branches and the entire surface of the bark from the base to the shoot changes color from green to brown (woody).

After these characteristics are met, the tabulampot grape is ready to bear fruit.

The following is a complete treatment technique to stimulate the tabulampot of grapes to bear fruit…

15 days before pruning:

Give goat manure (1 – 2 spoons) and Dolomite lime (2 – 3 tablespoons) by sowing evenly on the planting medium.

10 days before pruning:

Give fertilizer MKP and KNO3 White each 1/2 teaspoon by dissolving in 1 cup of clean water, then pour into the planting medium.

5 days before pruning:

Give back MKP and KNO3 White fertilizer with the same amount, then stop watering thoroughly (called Stress Water), where the planting media should not be exposed to water.

1 day before pruning:

Do watering at night.

Pruning day:

Water again in the morning, then do the pruning in 1-2 hours after. After trimming, reapply the same amount of MKP and KNO3 White. From now on watering is done regularly every day.

5 days after pruning:

Spray DIGrow Red POC (5 ml/liter of water) all over the plant stems. If there is still some residue, pour it into the planting medium.
